Pacifica Radio Remembers Lena Horne

Pacifica Radio Archives honors the incredible life of the talented and beautiful Lena Horne, who died on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the age of 92, with a special sound recording from our collection.
Horne was a powerful voice on Pacifica Radio over the years as she blazed the trail for minority artists of all kinds in music, film, dance, and radio. This interview - Lena, a Sound Portrait of a Multifaceted Lady - was taken by Gene Dealessi in 1966, and perfectly demonstrates the scope and conviction of this amazing Black artist. Restored through our Preservation and Access Project, this recording is also featured on the next episode of our weekly radio program From the Vault
