2009 Memphis Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) - Extended April 26, 2009

Mayor Willie W. Herenton and Memphis City Council are pleased to announce that the City of Memphis again will sponsor a summer enrichment and employment program for the city's youth. The Memphis Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) for 2009 is a major component of Memphis Youth Achieve-a new effort by the City of Memphis designed to ensure that the needs and aspirations of Memphis' youths are better served year-round.




Eligibility:

  • Resident of City of Memphis and Shelby County Residents
  • Youths 14 to 24 as of June 8, 2009 are welcomed and encouraged to register.
  • Regardless of your lottery rank in the City-funded SYEP. (There are 7,000 slots.)

Program Period:

June 8, 2009 - July 31, 2009 (eight weeks)

Registration:

Extended to April 26, 2009

As a result of the federal stimulus funds, we will able to:

Offer more jobs
Extend the number of weeks in the SYEP
Open the program to Shelby County residents
Increase the age limit to 24
